: #ShutDownAFRICOM Political Education Series

The #ShutDownAFRICOM Political Education Series begins August 23 with BAP Africa Team and the U.S. Out of Africa Network (USOAN)—six weekly sessions, Sundays at noon eastern. This is six weeks of building the political clarity and strategic organizing capacity to remove U.S. military occupation from Africa.

AFRICOM, NATO partnerships, proxy forces, and security agreements are the machinery of repression across the African continent. U.S. military bases, drone strikes, and intelligence operations displace communities, enable resource extraction, and crush African sovereignty. This militarized occupation intensifies political instability, fuels proxy conflicts, and entrenches neocolonial dependency. The imperial system that enforces this repression abroad turns its machinery of surveillance, policing, and incarceration against African and Black communities throughout the diaspora using us as testing grounds for the next iteration of repression.

For seventeen years, AFRICOM has served as the military-enforcement arm of the U.S. neocolonial project. BAP demanded it be shut down years before the Alliance of Sahel States expelled foreign militaries. Understanding this system is the first step toward dismantling it. This series equips participants with historical analysis and concrete organizing strategies to fight back. Each session features organizers from DRC, Libya, Kenya, South Africa, Burkina Faso, Somalia, Nigeria, and beyond—sharing frontline resistance experiences and building the internationalist solidarity we need to win.
